Several quotes of Edmund Burke.

“To read without reflecting is like eating without digesting.”

“Hypocrisy can afford to be magnificent in its promises, for never intending to go beyond promise, it costs nothing.”

“Bad laws are the worst sort of tyranny.”

    • Sue, today is not easy to find books that require reflecting! Many are written to entertain and they are forgotten
very fast. On the other hand, there is too much stress in life and many readers don’t want to read “serious” books.

      • Hope…. the last thing in the Pandora’s box……. sustaining the world on something good somewhere that is still not corrupted and corroded beyond recognition.

        • Please consider this quote: “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”

          Edmund Burke

          • good men often cower and lie to make up for the said behavior…………. then they erect monument proclaiming the innocence of the victims……
Only the meek shall inherit the earth, which has been true for ages…….

            • I think that Burke and you have different definitions of “good men”. However, you are right
in a sense that “the meek” easier survive tyrannies.
