Below are two photos of a small triangular area with benches on it. It is not far from where we live.
One side of it borders the Queens boulevard with three lanes of traffic, two others – side streets’ traffic lanes.
There is no protection from the sun there and the air is full of gases from passing buses and cars.
However, there are always people there.
Some of them just sit alone, some talk with strangers.
What brings them to this area? There are many wonderful parks nearby.
I think that many people want always be in the center of events. They enjoy noise and dynamics of the big city much more than calmness and beauty of nature.
They want to feel that they are together with many other people.
Do you agree?
Some people do like to be where they can see things happen, and see other folks, even if they don’t interact.
Right!
I agree.
Agree and some just didn’t want to walk further…
Good observation JF..yes I believe what you say is true..
Totally agree JF. Some people like to be around others. It gives some people energy.
Yes, people like to people-watch. It gives some people a sense of community when they feel like they’re in the middle of things.
I think that people like the sense of togetherness. I suppose the chance to sit and chat is what draws people to linger in this busy spot. I like the way you’ve shot the two views very much.
To be together is sometimes, what we need. Just be… The hustle and bustle is just fluff.
I think that people who live alone in a city often just go out to be near other folk. Maybe they’re hoping to strike up a conversation and make a friend. 😕
It’s also not so lonely when people are moving around and there
are many things to look on.
