Is rain a painter?

TRANSMOGRIFY

This week WordPress Photo Challenge is transmogrify. It means:

“To change in appearance or form, especially strangely or grotesquely; transform.”

We know that rain used by many artists and photographers to show force of nature, its beauty, its life force.

The first picture below shows rain from the window of the 25th floor in Hollywood, Florida.

It’s darker outside, there is a lot of water on the floor of the loggia. However, there is nothing strange or grotesque in this picture.

The second picture shows a shot of rain on the floor of the loggia. I made it in black and white to strengthen the impression that all drops of rain created.

img_1275-640x480

Here everything changed completely. There is a picture with many circular and non-circular shapes, there are eyes that look at you and judge you.

Hopefully, all eyes are friendly.

Are you cold?

Are you cold? Are you alone? Is it snowing wherever you are?

Let’s share this wonderful sunrise.

Then we’ll have a hearty breakfast with some laughs.

Can you drink some wine in the morning?

Oh, it’s a pity! What about cognac?

Are you sure?

Ok, ok!

Let’s go to the beach and pick up our spots in the shadows of palms.

Do you prefer a place closer to water?

We can have it too.

Express yourself?! (Part 1)

TODAY IT IS EASY!

Today is a special day!

Today is our friend’s birthday!

As usually, we’ll go to a Japanese restaurant and express ourselves in many wonderful artistic ways.

There will be speeches, poems, songs and beautiful combinations of everything the restaurant has to offer.

In the meantime to keep my appetite on the high alert I decided to express myself in paintings below.

I hope very much that you’ll like them. If not please don’t tell it to me before we return from the restaurant.

I was about to publish this post when I remembered that “Express Yourself” is a photo challenge.

So what can I say?

I always was a working girl like the one below.

What I see every day?

WHAT I SEE EVERY DAY?

In Hollywood every day I see a wonderful tall ship below. It inspires me to walk in the darkness to the stage on the Hollywood’s broadwalk and on the way back to enjoy beautiful sunrises.

In the evenings it inspires us to go to the broadwalk again to dance, to see people enjoying live, to see a guy who sells treasures to kids and adults.

Cities and city structures

In my earlier posts I showed you interesting structures in Manhattan and Queens.

Take a look today on a relatively small American city. It is Hollywood in Florida.

CITIES AND CITY STRUCTURES

You are born for happiness and love!

Always remember that your thoughts, your words and your attitude decide how you live. Be active, loving and optimistic! Happy Holidays!

PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS

Live has many ups and downs. Even in the depth of depression I remembered the words of a Russian short story writer, journalist, human rights activist and humanitarian Vladimir Korolenko:

“Man is born for happiness as a bird is born to fly”.

These words helped me to overcome all problems in my lives in the Soviet Union and in US. But happiness is not possible without love. You must love yourself and it gives you immense capacity to love others.

New Year is coming. I wish that your life was a happy flight full of love!

Golden? Yellow?

I am color blind.
When I saw that there were photo challenges “Yellow” and “Golden” my first reaction was: “Is not this the same?”.
*
I went to Google and asked for definition of “Yellow“.
The answer was that it is “the color between green and orange in the spectrum, a primary subtractive color complementary to blue; colored like ripe lemons or egg yolks.
Synonyms: flaxen, golden, gold, blond/blonde.”
*
After this answer I decided to take part in both challenges. The next step was to choose proper photos.
*
After long consideration I chose four photos below. Please let me know which of them you like more.

Inspired by Cee

We are now in Hollywood, Florida.

The very first morning here Cee inspired me to make several photos.

By the way, this is the first time in my life that I am in Florida with a digital camera.

Last time I photographed in Florida more than 20 years ago.

I hope that you’ll like two pictures below.

Today I found a quote about optimists that I want to share with you before Thanksgiving.

An optimist is a person who starts a new diet on Thanksgiving Day.

Please don’t change your diet until Friday or you might start looking as a pessimist above.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Sharing news and thoughts

1. Creativity and learning make people happy.

2. During my morning walk I saw in the distance three princesses, zoomed  and shot them (not with a gun). See the photo below.

3. I added several posts to the page “Travel”.

Among them are reblogs of posts of very talented bloggers Antonio Violi (SIRACUSA, ORTIGIA) and Victor Tribunsky (PETRA IN JORDAN).

Both posts have wonderful photos and stories.

I will add more posts to this page this week.

4. So far I made all my digital paintings using a paint program on my PC. But a couple of days ago I found that there are many other free programs for painting and photo editing. Today I am starting to learn one of them. Be ready for new paintings (it’s not a threat!).

5. I am going to add more paintings to the page “My paintings and tests”. Hopefully, all of you will test YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF PAINTING AND PAINTINGS.

A masterpiece!

Yesterday evening I went to take pictures of several buildings in our area. Then I went home looking around for other interesting stuff.

All of a sudden I noticed that ahead of me walks a girl with a dog on a leash.

Immediately a wonderful thought hit me:

“Make a photo of the girl with the dog and place it on a post together with the famous painting “Symphony in Black” by Erte! Call the post “Old and new”! It will be a masterpiece!”.

SYMPHONY IN BLACK by ERTE

I took my Canon PowerShot camera from my pocket and made a first shot. It was too dark.

The girl with the dog started to go faster and the distance between us increased.

I made a second shot but my hands were trembling.

Then I took a deep breath, zoomed and made a very good third shot.

Unfortunately, the dog used the time of my deep breath to relieve himself.

My photo was a real masterpiece!

Monochrome madness?

Today I noticed that several my followers submitted wonderful photos to Leanne Cole’s “Monochrome Madness – week 24”.

I got my first digital camera less than two months ago and so far I took only colour photos. I am not sure if my camera has mono mode. However, I learned today that it is possible to convert a colour photo to B&W on PC.

Am I mad enough? Sure, I am.

I took a colour photo of our protector at the Carriage House.

This guy protected guests for many years in all seasons. It was extremely difficult and dangerous job. His wonderful little son was kidnapped one night. He lost his right eye. His right side is greatly damaged. However, he stays bravely on his post and we feel safe near him.

Below is his photo converted to B&W on PC. Does it qualify as monochrome photo?

In any event, I hope you’ll like him.

Then I thought that we live in a beautiful wooded area. It is summer now and everything is green. Could it be that the original colour photo is better than the converted one?

Please take a look below and let me know your opinion.
